Selected professional work

SALT Trail 2.0

My role · Technical contributor at SALT

I worked on the technical side of SALT Trail 2.0, contributing to its geospatial and remote sensing work.

The project investigates how satellite observations, visitor information, terrain and weather data can help assess environmental impacts from nature-based tourism. Its Lofoten pilot aims to support monitoring of trail conditions and environmental degradation.

SALT-led feasibility project, supported by ESA's Business Applications and Space Solutions programme.

Questions I'm
working on now.

Independent projects exploring how geographic data can help us understand our local environment.

01 / WATER QUALITYGOKSJØ, NORWAY

Goksjø water quality

I'm exploring water quality and cyanobacteria in Goksjø, and how satellite data, maps and local observations can help identify patterns and follow changes over time.

The focus is on what these data can reveal about spatial patterns and change, with local observations providing context for interpreting satellite signals.

02 / LIGHT POLLUTIONDARKNESS & NATURE

Darker Skies

I'm investigating how geospatial data can map light pollution, identify darker areas and help us understand natural darkness as an environmental quality.

This work also explores how darkness relates to protected areas, human disturbance and the experience of relatively undisturbed nature.

Developing my practice

Exploring
drone applications.

I'm building on my GIS and remote sensing background to explore how drone data can bring local detail to environmental and landscape analysis.

01

Terrain & 3D mapping

Exploring photogrammetry and LiDAR applications for detailed surface models, terrain interpretation and 3D visualisation.

02

Vegetation & landscape

Investigating how drone data could support closer study of vegetation structure, habitat patterns and local environmental change.

03

Connecting scales

Exploring how local drone observations can complement satellite imagery and existing GIS datasets.

DRONES / LOCAL DETAIL

Closer to the landscape.

I'm exploring how drone imagery and LiDAR could complement satellite data when environmental questions call for finer local detail.
